Almaz enhances Botswana’s technology industry

Friday, 4 November, 2016 - 11:45

A newly established manufacturing and distribution technology company Almaz is set to change the market landscape in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the new brand last night, Almaz co-founder Monametsi Kalayamotho said they have done benchmarking in similar environments like Rwanda, South Africa, Kenya, Senegal and Portugal.

He says they aim to have Almaz produce gadgets with competitive quality and price for the local market.

Giving a key note address at the launch, Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi called on retailers and distributors to embrace Almaz and give them a fair chance.

He said it is defeating for Botswana to have a leading economy in Africa when its products are not on shelves in locally.

The 20 million Pula investment is set to create 500 skilled jobs in the first year, while indirectly acting as a catalyst to local content development.
