Diacore Gaborone Marathon receives 350 thousand Pula sponsorship

Thursday, 19 March, 2015 - 12:15

Stanbic Bank Botswana yesterday announced a 3-year commitment to sponsor the annual Diacore Gaborone Marathon, DGM, event for 350 thousand Pula with a particular focus this year on the 21. 1km race.

This year’s marathon event is set to take place this coming Sunday at the Grand Palm Resort in Gaborone with up to a 6 thousand runners participating this year.

Public Relations Manager with Stanbic, Ruth Modisane, says the bank will reward the first male and female Motswana athletes in the 21.1 km race with a prize money of 5 thousand Pula each as part of its commitment to developing local athletic talent.

Chairman of DGM Foundation, Thola Magang, says the support they get from the bank makes a difference.

The Diacore Gaborone Marathon is an international qualifier for major races and Botswana’s largest running-for-charity event.

Proceeds from the registration fees are awarded to official charities selected by DGM.
