BOTSWANA COMMEMORATES DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD.

Article By: Diana Motsu

Today, Botswana joins the continent in commemorating the Day of the African Child a day that honors the courage of the 1976 Soweto students whose stand inspired a movement for children’s rights across Africa.

This year’s theme, Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights, Progress Since 2010, urges governments and communities to turn promises into action by ensuring children are prioritized in national plans and budgets.

Local organizations like Stepping Stones emphasize that children must be seen as active citizens with urgent needs and non-negotiable rights not just future leaders.
