BOTSWANA WILDLIFE PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION

Article By: Keba Rasekhutla

The Botswana Wildlife Producers Association has reaffirmed its support for sustainable and ethical hunting, saying it plays a critical role in conservation and rural development.

As debates continue over the future of trophy hunting and wildlife management in Botswana, Association Spokesperson Oshinka Tsiang told Gabz FM News that the group works closely with government and local communities to ensure responsible use of natural resources.

He revealed that between 2022 and 2024, hunting licenses issued through the Department of Wildlife and National Parks generated P10.85 million in revenue—money used to support conservation efforts and improve livelihoods in wildlife-rich areas.

While the funds may not fully meet conservation costs, Tsiang says they remain crucial in protecting biodiversity and promoting community empowerment.
