Article By: SOLOMON TJINYEKE Councillor for Kgosing/Kubung ward in the Maun North Constituency, Magonamo Mmomolainyane, has raised concern over the increasing number of so-called ghost houses in Maun.
Speaking in an interview with GABZ FM, Mmomo-lainyane said several abandoned houses, some belonging to government and others to the council have fallen into a dilapidated state.
He suggested that these properties be handed over to Village Development Committees (VDCs) for renovation, adding that the houses could then be rented out to generate income.
Mmomolainyane noted that renovating existing structures would be far more cost-effective than constructing new rental houses, which he said has become increasingly expensive.
He added that the matter was previously raised during a full council session, but is yet to be acted upon.
