DRUG USERS EXPLOIT PUBLIC DONATIONS

Article By: Sekhona Muchado

As drug abuse continues to rise in Botswana, concerned citizens say some users are exploiting public sympathy by pretending to be homeless to collect donations and fund their habits.

Speaking to Gabz FM News, members of the public shared growing frustration over individuals seen regularly begging in busy areas, only to later use the money to buy drugs.

They are calling for increased public awareness and stronger support systems to help addicts’ access rehabilitation and reduce the manipulation of public goodwill.

The call comes amid nationwide concerns over drug abuse and its social impact—particularly among the youth.
