INHERITANCE DISPUTES LEAVING FAMILIES VULNERABLE

Inheritance disputes continue to leave families, particularly orphans and vulnerable children, at risk of losing property and assets meant for them.

Batswana from across the country said family dynamics often change after the death of parents, with relatives fighting over property and, in some cases, forcing orphans out of their homes. Others said children left in the care of stepparents are sometimes pressured to surrender assets that rightfully belong to them.
