MINISTER MMOLOTSI HIGHLIGHTS TROPHY HUNTING AS KEY REVENUE SOURCE FOR COMMUNITIES

Article By: Diana Motsu

Trophy hunting can be utilized as a significant income stream for local communities in the country, with the government advocating for its sustainable and responsible use.

In an interview with Gabz FM News, Minister of Environment and Tourism Wynter Mmolotsi, explained that every year, a quota is set for hunting, ensuring that it is done in a controlled and responsible manner to support conservation efforts.

He highlighted that the revenue generated from trophy hunting is channeled to community trusts, which partner with operators to sell hunting rights.

The minister added that these trusts have seen significant financial gains, which have helped to fund local development and reduce conflicts with wildlife.
