Batswana bettors have collected P135 million (One Hundred and Thirty-Five Million Pula) in winnings in March 2025 alone, from a total of P150 million (One Hundred and Fifty Million Pula) wagered during the month.
Speaking at the official launch of Bet267, a new entrant into Botswana’s online sports betting market, Gambling Authority CEO Peter Kesitilwe disclosed that Gross Gambling Revenue (GGR) for the month stood at P15 million (Fifteen Million Pula).
According to Kesitilwe, if current trends persist, Botswana’s annual gross gambling revenue could exceed P180 million (One Hundred and Eighty Million Pula). He however cautioned that the reported figures represent activity from only about 40 percent of the country’s active gambling population, with the majority still using unlicensed platforms.
The Gambling Authority believes that, with full market capture, annual gambling revenue could expand to P450 million (Four Hundred and Fifty Million Pula).
