BOTSWANA CONDEMNS ISRAEL-PALESTINE HOSTILITIES AND ISRAELI FORCES FIGHT TO DRIVE OUT HAMAS MILITANTS

Article By: Rorisang Mogojwe

Botswana has condemned the continuing attacks in Israel and Gaza that have led to the loss of civilian lives and massive destruction of property.

In a statement, the government called on both parties to immediately cease hostilities and seek a negotiated settlement through peaceful means, and for the protection of civilians in accordance with international law.

In a statement, the government says it is disappointing that up to now efforts towards peace between Israel and Palestine, based on internationally recognized agreements remain unimplemented. Botswana calls for an immediate implementation of these agreements and reaffirms its position for a peaceful resolution of the conflict as enshrined in the UN Charter, and further reiterates its long-held stance of a two-state solution that will usher in a permanent solution to the Israeli-Palestine conflict.
