GOVERNMENT TARGETS TOURISM AS ECONOMIC BUFFER AMID DIAMOND UNCERTAINTY

Government says concrete resolutions to reposition tourism as a key economic driver—amid ongoing challenges in the diamond sector—are expected from the ongoing Tourism Pitso, which has resumed after a 10 year hiatus.

Speaking to Gabz FM News, Director in the Department of Tourism Lopang Pule said the Pitso is focused on uniting government and the private sector to jointly revive and grow the industry.

He said high-level panel discussions will tackle policy reforms, amendments to legal frameworks, and other structural barriers holding back the sector, with the aim of unlocking its next phase of growth and strengthening its contribution to the national economy.
