Article By: Tumelo Mouwane

Government will spend P1.4 billion to acquire 45,000 hectares of idle land owned by the Tati Company in the North West district.

Minister of Land and Water Affairs, Kefentse Mzwinila, told journalists in Palapye on Friday that the money will be paid over the next two financial years.

The land, which has been in the hands of absentee owners, is expected to be allocated to Batswana once transactions between the two parties are completed.

In the same meeting, Mzwinila advised newly appointed land board members to desist from corruption, as issues around land are sensitive.

He urged them to exercise a high level of professionalism and morality when allocating land.
