POLICE IN MAHALAPYE RAISE CONCERNS OVER INCREASING CASES OF RAPE, DEFILEMENT, AND DRUG POSSESSION.

Police in Mahalapye have expressed growing concern over a rise in cases of rape, defilement, and the possession of illicit substances.


In an interview with Gabz FM News, Mahalapye Central Police Station Commander, Meshack Ranku, revealed that the station has already recorded 13 cases of rape, 8 cases of defilement, and 12 incidents involving the possession of illicit substances. He described the trend as alarming, especially so early in the year.


Ranku further explained that investigations are underway after a man was found in possession of 12 sachets, believed to contain methcathinone, commonly known as cat. Additionally, a woman has been arrested for possessing 11 substances suspected to be dagga.


In other developments, Ranku noted that authorities are searching for a man accused of assaulting a 21-year-old woman. Meanwhile, an arrest has been made in connection with a man who set fire to his lover’s house, causing damage worth over P 200,000.
