VDC MEMEBRS TO RECEIVE 2500 MONTLY ALLOWANCE.

Village Development Committee members will now receive a monthly allowance of P2500.

This was revealed by President Duma Boko during a kgotla meeting in Tlokweng yesterday.

The President said the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs has reviewed the VDC guidelines to better recognize the hard work and contribution of committee members in advancing development at the village level.

According to Boko, the revised guidelines are designed to strengthen VDC leadership by improving accountability, responsibility, and transparency. He noted that the update will also promote closer collaboration between VDCs and other community structures, including cooperatives, trusts, and the Public Works Programme.

In addition, the President announced that the Ipelegeng programme is being transformed into a new Public Works Programme, with an expanded focus on basic infrastructure and maintenance work. Workers under the Public Works Programme will also receive a monthly stipend of P2500.
