Gaborone Central police are investigating a case where a 27-year-old man was raped by two fellow inmates on Wednesday night at Gaborone Central Prison.

According to Superintendent Sharpson Mbuso the attackers are Tshepiso Letsididi and Obuile Nkwala. The victim sustained injuries from the assault.

Tshepiso Letsididi was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison by Broadhurst Magistrate Court for raping a 15-year-old girl. He also received 35 years from Mochudi Magistrate Court for rape and robbery of an 8-year-old girl. Letsididi has three pending murder trials before the High Court, including one case where he allegedly killed a Standard 5 child and buried the body in a shallow grave.

Prison reports indicate this is not the first time Letsididi has raped fellow inmates. Many previous victims did not report the assaults.
