As the nation observes Labour Day, the Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) has raised concerns over ongoing challenges faced by workers in the country.
In an interview with Gabz FM News, BFTU Secretary General Tshepiso Mbereki expressed hope that these issues would soon be addressed.
He highlighted key problems, including the disparity in wages between local workers and their international counterparts, as well as resistance from some private sector employers against unionization.
Mbereki stressed that such wage gaps and the lack of union rights undermine the dignity and rights of workers.
This year’s Labour Day is commemorated under the theme “Workers’ Rights Are Human Rights.”
