Botswana Republican Party (BRP) leader Biggie Butale has condemned the government’s decision to convert Chema Chema loans into grants, arguing that the move will have negative economic consequences.
Speaking on GABZ FM, Butale expressed concern over the country’s financial situation, stating that offering grants instead of loans would further strain the economy. He described the decision as economically unsound.
Butale further alleged that the initiative was a political strategy aimed at influencing voters in favor of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) ahead of upcoming elections.
