The Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority has warned the public against buying herbal medicines from unlicensed sellers, especially those operating on the streets and social media.
BoMRA spokesperson Israel Kgosidile told Gabz FM News that unregistered products may be unsafe, contaminated, or counterfeit, stressing that all herbal medicines must be authorised to ensure safety and quality.
The authority has urged consumers to buy medicines only from licensed outlets and to report illegal sales, warning that natural does not always mean safe.
Meanwhile, the Dingaka Association says traditional medicine remains effective and has been unfairly overlooked.
