The Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) is calling for the effective implementation of employment laws, collective agreements and court judgments to improve teachers’ working conditions.
Speaking at the union’s 2026 annual conference, BOSETU President Dr Winston Radikolo said concerns over job security, teachers’ welfare and professional development must be addressed to improve the quality of education.
Radikolo further warned that policies without implementation do not amount to justice, urging greater investment in teachers, research and skills development to address unemployment, inequality and Botswana’s economic challenges.

Gaolathe said government would prioritize engagement with unions, strengthen collective bargaining and improve opportunities for teachers’ professional growth.
