The Botswana Republican Party says the forensic audit report summary exposes deep governance failures, systemic corruption and weak oversight across government.
BRP President Biggie Butale says the reported loss of about 33 billion pula between 2014 and 2024 represents a major blow to the economy and public services. Butale says the findings point to long standing procurement abuse and institutional failure, not isolated corruption cases.
According to the audit summary, 26 out of 30 high risk public entities examined were linked to serious governance concerns, while more than 80 senior officials and over 150 contractors were reportedly tied to suspicious transactions.
The BRP blames the former ruling Botswana Democratic Party for the governance environment under which the alleged failures emerged.. Butale also warns against politicising the audit process.
