BOTSWANA TO ENHANCE POWER GENERATION EFFORTS TO MEET 2040 ELECTRICITY GOALS



Article By: Tumelo Mouwane Minister of Minerals and Energy, Lefoko Moagi, has reaffirmed his ministry's commitment to diversifying power generation methods to meet Botswana's integrated resource plan for electricity generation by 2040.


Speaking at the launch of Jindal Africa's P10 million CSR initiative in Palla-Road this morning, Moagi emphasized the importance of exploring renewable energy sources to ensure the country produces sufficient power to support its economic ambitions.

Moagi said power generation through renewable resources is yet to be fully explored, but it is essential as government strives to meet the nation's electricity goals.


Multinational firm, Jindal Africa is set to contribute significantly to Botswana's power security projects with the handover of a 600-megawatt power plant and coal mine in Mmamabula, scheduled for December 2026.
