Botswana has approved the use of injectable anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs to improve adherence to HIV treatment.
Ministry of Health Chief Public Relations Officer, Dr Christopher Nyanga says the injections are given every two months.
The injections are expected to help alleviate concerns that patients skip their daily oral dose.
Dr Nyanga however stated that while the drugs have been approved for use, there is a shortage in the market which has caused a delay in procurement.
