BOTSWANA TO LOWER LEGAL GAMBLING AGE FROM 21 TO 18.

Article By: Diana Motsu

The Gambling Authority of Botswana has announced plans to amend the Gambling Act of 2012, reducing the legal gambling age from 21 to 18.

Speaking at the recent launch of BET 267, Botswana’s latest addition to the growing sports betting industry, Gambling Authority CEO Peter Kedikilwe emphasized that this change aligns the country with international standards and addresses the growing trend of young people engaging in unregulated online gambling.

He outlined that lowering the legal gambling age would enhance consumer protection. He also said that the change aims to encourage more individuals to use licensed gambling platforms, ultimately boosting revenue in the sector.
