Two brothers have been sentenced to five strokes of corporal punishment after being found guilty of stealing 130 bags of phane valued at approximately P460,000.
Lebani and Kewagamang Makhulela were convicted alongside their mother, Chikadzi Makhulela, and an associate, Keitumetse Ndlovu, in the Francistown Magistrate’s Court.
All four received wholly suspended three-year prison sentences, on condition they do not commit further theft-related crimes.
However, only the brothers were ordered to receive corporal punishment, pending medical clearance.
