BUSINESS BOTSWANA

Article By: Laone Molelo

Business Botswana is calling on government to urgently engage the United States over a proposed 37% tariff increase, despite a recent 90-day suspension of the measure.

The organization’s Head of Policy and Research, Mpaphi Tsholofelo, says swift negotiations are critical to safeguard Botswana’s economic sustainability.

He highlighted the need for stronger financing along the agricultural value chain and the standardization of local businesses to boost global competitiveness.

Tsholofelo also stressed the importance of protecting Botswana’s diamond exports and leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area to strengthen the country’s trade position.
