Calls Grow for Action as Social Assistance Struggles in Boteti

Concerns are mounting over the continued decline in social assistance services and a breakdown in communication within the Boteti District Council, prompting calls for restored accountability and improved service delivery.

Botswana Khweedom Council spokesperson Banyatsi Salutu told GABZ FM News that  vulnerable groups including the elderly, youth, persons with disabilities and marginalized San communities are increasingly missing out on timely and coordinated support. 

He also noted that the situation has raised broader questions about the effectiveness of social protection systems in one of Botswana’s most disadvantaged districts. 

GABZ FM News sought comment from the Boteti District Council, but officials were unavailable to respond at the time of broadcast.
