CASUAL CONTRACTS: JOB INSECURITY ON THE RISE IN WHITE-COLLAR WORK

Article By: Phenyo Babusi

Job insecurity is growing in Botswana’s white-collar sector, as more professionals face unstable employment through casual contracts and freelance roles.

Once praised for offering flexibility, these arrangements are now drawing criticism for contributing to exploitation and long-term career uncertainty.

Labour experts are calling for legislative reforms and greater awareness of existing labour rights to safeguard workers from abuse.
