Civil society, through the Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO) has rejected the Constitution Amendment Bill No. 14 of 2025, calling it undemocratic and lacking public input.
BOCONGO spokesperson Lovey Ramotlhala told Gabz FM News that the Bill was drafted without meaningful consultation or public education.
She says constitutional reforms must be people-led, transparent, and inclusive.
Ramotlhala also called for changes to Sections 87 and 89 to guarantee public participation and urged that constitutional materials be made available in local languages, including Setswana, Kalanga, Sekgalagadi, and Sesarwa.
