COUPLE ACCUSED OF FAKE DOCUMENTS SEEKS BAIL.

Article By: Sekhona Muchado

An alleged Seychellois couple accused of using fraudulent documents appeared before the Molepolole Magistrate Court on Monday seeking bail.

Christian and Julia Ozekwero, who have been in custody since February, are charged with altering false documents.

During the bail hearing, Christian cited a need for urgent medical care linked to previous injuries and requested a 90-day legal stay in Botswana. Julia pleaded for release, expressing emotional distress from being separated from her husband and their four children, who are currently in government care.

State Prosecutor Sergeant Thatayaone Marupi opposed the bail, telling the court that Interpol and the Seychelles Embassy confirmed the documents as fraudulent.

He warned that the couple could not be reliably traced if released.

Principal Magistrate Solomon Setshedi has postponed the bail ruling to August 14, and the couple remains in custody. The case will be handed over to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
