The Ministry of Health has announced that first line tuberculosis (TB) medicines are now available and have been dispatched to healthcare facilities across the country.
This comes after recent shortages of TB medication, which have caused concern among patients. The Ministry added that a new consignment is expected to arrive by mid-May 2025, which will help stabilize the availability of TB medicines nationwide.
The Ministry also addressed concerns about shortages of other essential medicines, such as those for asthma, and highlighted that alternatives are available for most conditions. Further appealing to TB patients who missed their treatment due to the shortage, to their regular health facility for refills, re-initiation of treatment, or further advice.
