GANGS ACCUSED OF USING CHILDREN IN “CAT” DRUG TRADE IN LOBATSE

Article By: DIANA MOTSU

Organised gangs are accused of exploiting children to distribute methcathinone, commonly known as “Cat,” as the drug continues to spread rapidly in Lobatse.

Area Member of Parliament Kamal Jacobs told Gabz FM News that children are being used as drug runners, exposing them to crime and serious danger at a young age.

He said traditional policing methods have struggled to contain the problem and called for the establishment of a specialised drug enforcement agency to dismantle organised drug networks and protect vulnerable youth.

Jacobs also raised concern over rising gang activity in Lobatse, linking groups such as Ma/Ukraine, Makgaola 7 and Mashebesheta to theft and harassment of residents. He warned that without urgent intervention, more young people could be drawn into criminal activity.
