GOVERNMENT OWES P15 BILLION TO ROAD CONTRACTORS

Article By: SOLOMON TJINYEKE

Government owes contractors P15 billion for road construction and maintenance, according to Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Noah Salakae.

Addressing a kgotla meeting in Maun, Salakae explained that this substantial debt is delaying new road projects, as the ministry is focused on settling outstanding payments to contractors.

He highlighted the Maun-Sehithwa, Sehithwa-Mohembo, and Mohembo-Gudigwa roads in the North West District, acknowledging that these roads are in a deterio-rated state and will be prioritized once the financial situation improves.

Salakae is currently touring road projects across the country to assess the ongoing situation and said efforts will be made to address the issue as soon as funds become available.
