Government and the six public service trade unions have reached a settlement over the Local Per Diem arrangement and Leadership Transformation Programme.

In a statement the Directorate of Public Service Management stated that under the agreement, government will suspend implementation of the new Per Diem arrangement, scheduled for the 1st of September, for unionized public officers pending consultations.

The DPSM is expected to provide reasons for the proposed changes today, with unions expected to respond by the 26th of August. The parties will meet on 28 August before a final decision is made.

Meanwhile, government remains free to implement the Leadership Transformation Programme for eligible Executive Cadre members, while consultations continue on its application to D1 officers and below.
