Ministry of Agriculture allocated
6.2 Billion Pula.
Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Molebatsi Molebatsi says his ministry will heavily invest in fish farming in the upcoming years as part of increasing Botswana's capacity to become self sufficient in the production of fish.
Molebatsi said this on the sidelines of the budget speech delivered before parliament in February.
He said the country consumes about five tonnes of fish daily, a demand that the fisheries sector could meet should there be adequate support from government.
This according to the minister will open economic opportunities for prospective fish farmers whilst increasing value chain beneficiation in the agric sector.
