Article By: Solomon Tjinyeka

The Minister of Sports and Arts, Jacob Kelebeng, has officially declared horse racing an affiliate sport under the Botswana National Sport Commission.

Speaking at the MASA Easter Cup event in Samedupi, Kelebeng praised the organizers and highlighted horse racing’s growing importance—both as a sport and as a key part of local cultural heritage.

The event attracted hundreds of spectators, including visitors from Lesotho and Namibia.

Meanwhile, a horse named Western Bypass from Motlowe village won the 2400m grand race, walking away with a P30,000 prize.
