Kanye District Council is grappling with a financial deficit of more than P45 million, a situation that has led to delays in payments, including those for Ipelegeng workers.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with GABZ FM News, Council Chairperson Morapedi Kgosithebe acknowledged the financial strain, attributing it to challenges faced since the new administration took over.
Kgosithebe said there have been operating under difficult financial conditions, which has unfortunately affected timely payments for Ipelegeng workers and others.
However, he expressed optimism that the beginning of the new financial year will bring some relief, saying the new fiscal period gives hope that funds will be available soon and that we’ll be able to settle outstanding payments.
