Kgosi Khama IV has challenged the Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Ketlhalefile Motshegwa, over a recent directive warning Dikgosi against holding meetings with councilors outside official structures.

Through his lawyers, Kgosi Khama has written to the minister seeking clarification on the 16 April letter, which was sent to all traditional leaders.

The legal team criticized the tone of the letter, describing it as unduly reprimanding and disrespectful to Dikgosi.

Khama warned that the approach could undermine puisano—the open dialogue that is central to community leadership.
