LANDS & AGRICULTURE TO TABLE CANNABIS HEMP POLICY IN PARLIAMENT.

Article By: Diana Motsu

The Ministry of Lands and Agriculture is set to table a paper in Parliament today on the licit use of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes.

According to the Cannabis Hemp Policy paper received by Gabz news, the policy aims to regulate cannabis cultivation, boost economic growth, and promote healthcare. It also highlights Botswana’s favorable conditions for cannabis farming, with potential in textiles and pharmaceuticals.

The policy also focuses on job creation and sustainable farming, though challenges like infrastructure and legislative changes remain.

Meanwhile Botswana Congress Party Shadow Minister Dr. Kesitegile Gobotswang told Gabz FM News that it's time for Botswana to explore cannabis use but called for a national agricultural policy to support it.

Stay tuned to Gabz FM, as we continue the conversation with Attorney Charles McErick on the other side of the news.
