Article By: Tumelo Mouwane

President Mokgweetsi Masisi has announced that over 600 million pula will be disbursed for Constituency Community Projects (CCP) with a strict emphasis on benefiting local residents.

Masisi made the announcement at a kgotla meeting in Mahalapye this morning.

He said the CCP model intends to benefit local manufactures, citizen-owned companies by engaging locals in the construction of key amenities needed within communities.

The president warned that there will be penalties put in place for any malpractices that open avenues for non-citizens to benefit from the construction of CCP projects.

CCP projects intend to allow locals to contribute directly and benefit financially from the construction of key community projects such as construction by providing raw materials, equipment or expertise.

The projects include construction of internal roads and schools amongst others.
