Some parents in Sehithwa are being accused of covering up child sexual abuse by accepting livestock from perpetrators instead of reporting them to police.
The shocking practice was revealed during a leadership workshop in Maun West, where Station Commander Molly Lebala-Moduke warned that families are choosing cattle over justice in cases involving minors.
She condemned the trend as a gross violation of children’s rights and a major barrier to justice, adding that rising child neglect in the district is leaving many vulnerable to abuse.
