Botswana Police have condemned the recent rise in graphic accident scene posts on Facebook, calling the trend “shameful” and insensitive. Their statement has sparked a national debate.

Members of the public, speaking to Gabz FM News, defended these posts as a form of citizen journalism enabled by social media. While some admit the images can be traumatic, others say they help inform families faster than official channels.

Many noted that public figures are always under scrutiny, and incidents involving them are bound to be shared. The majority agree that as long as social media platforms remain open, people will continue posting content they find important, regardless of official approval.
