Botswana Police Service says joint efforts between law enforcement and the public made this Easter safer. From April 17th to 22nd, road accidents dropped by 17%, and serious injuries were fewer. However, five fatal crashes claimed six lives, and 291 drivers tested over the alcohol limit.
Property and violent crimes also declined—offences against persons fell by over 50%, and gender-based violence cases dropped by 47%.
The Assistant Commissioner thanked communities for supporting police efforts and urged continued cooperation and peaceful conflict resolution. The success, he said, shows that when police and the public work together, safety improves for everyone.
