President Masisi has urged Batswana to shun xenophobic attacks towards Zimbabweans. Masisi made the call at the recent Botswana - Zimbabwe Binational Commission in Maun recently. He called on locals to rally behind the introduction of the use of identity cards, as a form of traveling documents for citizens of either side because it is for a good cause.
Some opposition MPs are opposed to the proposal identical to the agreement between Botswana and Namibia arguing that they foresee an influx of Zimbabweans – a development that they say would lead to a high crime rate in the country.
