The State has withdrawn its opposition to an application by four accused persons in the State vs Bakang Seretse and Others case to appeal a ruling that DCEC officers have the authority to prosecute.
The first, second, fourth and fifth accused have been given 30 days to file their appeal.
Meanwhile, third accused Alphonse Molamu Ndzinge has applied for a separation of his trial, with the State given 14 days to respond.
The matter has been postponed to 24 September 2026 for a status hearing.
This follows the long-running National Petroleum Fund (NPF) case, involving businessman Bakang Seretse, Sharifa Noor, Alphonse Molamu Ndzinge, and companies Kgori Capital and Kgori Holdings.
In which the State alleges the accused were involved in the misappropriation of NPF funds, with the current case carrying more than 60 charges, including stealing by agent, forgery, conspiracy to defraud and money laundering. The charges relate to alleged transactions involving more than P31 million.
