Teenage pregnancies are on the rise in Francistown, with 60 cases recorded between October and December 2024.
According to Nyangwagwe Referral Hospital Spokesperson, Keekae Majeramane, key drivers include poverty, substance abuse, limited access to contraceptives, and lack of parental involvement.
Despite ongoing education efforts, health officials say low-income areas are most affected.
The government is now expanding school health programs, strengthening counselling services, and supporting teen mothers to stay in school.
