VENDORS DEFY VACATE ORDER AT GABORONE BUS RANK

Vendors at the Gaborone Bus Rank continue to trade despite a directive ordering them to vacate the area to make way for renovations.

Speaking on Gabz FM’s Late Lunch Show, the vendors’ committee said there has been no change on the ground and business is continuing as usual.

Vendors were ordered to leave the bus rank by December 31, 2025, following a court-backed directive by the Gaborone City Council to allow redevelopment by a private investor. 

The order sparked protests, with traders citing the lack of clear relocation plans and concerns over their livelihoods.

Authorities say the move is aimed at modernisation and improving safety at the bus rank.

The Gaborone City Council is yet to comment on the matter
