WRONGFUL IMPRISONMENT SPARKS CALLS FOR JUSTICE REFORM.

Article By: Phenyo Babusi

Botswana’s justice system is under scrutiny as stories of wrongful imprisonment continue to surface, raising concerns about investigative flaws and lack of support for the wrongly accused.

Speaking to Gabz FM News, Boyson Boipelo Mokone—Founder of Youth of Hope Safe Haven—shared his experience of being jailed at age 19 for a rape he didn’t commit.

Though later acquitted, Boyson says the experience left lasting damage to his mental health and reputation.

He’s now calling for justice reforms, including better investigations, accountability for false accusations, and mental health support for victims of wrongful imprisonment.
