Water Utilities Corporation has issued a warning to customers under its Debt Amnesty Campaign, stating that those who fail to honour their payment agreements will be handed over to debt collectors.
Speaking to Gabz FM News, the corporation’s CEO Gaselemogwe Senai revealed that domestic water debt has reached P833 million, contributing to the corporation’s total debt of P1.5 billion.
He attributed rising water bills to excessive consumption, meter reading errors, and—most significantly—undetected water leakages. Senai noted that while billing mistakes are rare, many complaints result from hidden leaks that lead to unexpectedly high bills.
The Debt Amnesty Campaign, which runs from April 1st to June 30th, 2025, offers customers a 50% discount on outstanding bills and a flexible three-month payment plan.
