BOTSWANA CENTER FOR PUBLIC INTEGRITY CALLS FOR GREATER GOVERNMENT TRANSPARENCY

Article By: Diana Motsu

The Botswana Center for Public Integrity (BCPI) is urging civil society organizations and citizens to demand greater transparency from the government.

This call comes on the heels of the recently signed DeBeers deal and the ongoing scandal surrounding the BCL Mine deal.

In an interview with Gabz FM News, BCPI Executive Director Vivien Ngwako emphasized that certain high-profile national deals often spark uninformed speculation when they are shrouded in secrecy.

Ngwako pointed out that the new administration is inheriting a system that lacked transparency, with limited access to information for both the media and civil society.
