The Botswana Democratic Party will hold a critical National Congress from today in Maun.
The congress comes as the BDP faces internal uncertainty following a historic defeat in the 2024 general elections, which ended its 58-year rule and left the party with only four seats in Parliament.
Analysts say this Congress could be a turning point for the former ruling party - as tensions run high with reports of internal conflicts and factions.
With the main agenda of the election being the selection of a new leadership body, candidates have been making final appeals to party members over the week.
There is also growing speculation on whether the congress will mark a political comeback—or deepen existing divisions.
Do stay tuned to Gabz FM as reporter Keba Rasekhutla is in Maun, with updates throughout the weekend.
